Yamaha recently introduced the refreshed variants of its 150cc motorcycles, FZ16 and FZ-S. The next in cue to get a makeover is the semi-faired version of the FZ series, Yamaha Fazer. A few weeks back, we reported sightings of the updated Fazer. Now, automotive website Motoring World has got its hands on the images and details of the upcoming Fazer.
Primarily, the Fazer is an FZ with a sem-fairing. So it gets all the bits and pieces that are found on the FZ Version 2. So, the new Yamaha Fazer Fi V2.0 gets a split seat, redesigned exhaust, updated instrument cluster and new colours/graphics: White Cloud, Black Hawk and Red Dawn. Yamaha managed to shed off the three kilos from the old version as the new Fazer now weighs about 138 kgs.

Mechanically too, the new Fazer is similar to the FZ version 2. So, at the heart of the upcoming Fazer is a 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that puts out 13.1PS of power and 12.8Nm of torque and comes mated to 5-speed gearbox. Sticking to the tarmac would be a set of MRF tyres. The front would get a 100/80 R17 tyre while the rear would get a 140/60 R17 piece.
Yamaha’s intention behind introducing the Fazer was to cater to the needs of the touring community of motorcyclists. The front windshield reduces windblast and gives the Fazer a good highway cruising capacity. The 12-litre fuel tank will provide for long range.

With festive season in full swing, we expect to see the new Fazer Version 2 in the showroom very soon. The FZ version 2 retails for nearly Rs 92,000 (on-road Mumbai). After adding the cost of the semi-fairing, we anticipate a price tag of approximately Rs 97,000-98,000 on the new Fazer.
